Designing a digital signage strategy for your school can be quite daunting at the best of times, balancing what content you are making, for which audience and where they are going to see it. Fortunately for our customers they have TrilbyTV’s Customer Success Manager, Tom Pickrell who is our expert on hand to work alongside users to help them plan, grow and really create an impact. Here’s Tom’s tips for getting started,
“When starting with digital signage an excellent focus is your community, and the various audiences you’ll be reaching out to. Put yourselves in their shoes, watch through the content you upload, and think about the impact and influence it has. You may only have a few seconds to capture engagement, so make them count!”
Impact and engagement
Whilst visiting Salford City Academy (SCA), part of schools group United Learning, we heard how Tom has been working to develop their digital signage strategy. We met with Marketing and Communications Manager for United Learning’s Salford Cluster, Cheryl Cain, who told us:
“At Salford City Academy, digital signage plays a key role in how we promote school events and communicate with our students. For example, for our Year 11 GCSE students, digital signage is one of the ways we provide them with reminders about their exams, whether it’s by displaying information about upcoming revision sessions or some motivational words of encouragement.”

I hadn’t used digital signage before I began working at SCA but as soon as I had the initial training with Tom, I found TrilbyTV really straightforward to use. Now, we really want to refine and expand our approach across the cluster.”
Goals for future growth
Speaking about the school’s goals for the future, Cheryl said:
“Across United Learning, all schools strive to deliver an ‘Education with Character’ which means providing students with new and exciting opportunities where they can challenge themselves, develop new skills and build their confidence.”
“At SCA, we have an impressive co-curricular offering with over 60 clubs, student leadership opportunities, a vibrant house system, career events, trips and enrichment days. We want to use digital signage to encourage even more of our students to get involved in these opportunities and really immerse themselves in the SCA community.”
Cheryl summed up her experience so far with TrilbyTV:
“It’s been really good to work with Tom to ensure we are creating maximum impact with our digital signage and best engaging our students. Across the Salford cluster, we are all very grateful to Tom for his advice and support.”
