In the latest instalment of our Scotland school series we visited Larbert High School in Falkirk. Whilst on our journey through Scotland visiting the various schools that use TrilbyTV, our goal was to see how they display their content, showcase school accomplishments and how they share their work on their digital signage displays. We caught up with Larbert’s Digital Media Manager, Katie Couper who told us about how digital signage has become a transformative tool around the school, while being innovative with their content and celebrating success is the main aim when using TrilbyTV.
The integration of digital signage screens in schools is reshaping the learning environment and visual communication methods. Larbert High School, in particular, is harnessing this technology to boost engagement, helping to relay important information and creating an engaging atmosphere for students, staff and visitors.

One of the most significant advantages of using digital signage is the heightened efficiency in communication and sharing announcements. Key information such as event reminders, schedule changes and important notifications can be promptly displayed via TrilbyTV in real time, ensuring that everyone stays informed, this has enabled effective showcasing and strengthened the sense of school community.
Larbert High School recognises that students are more likely to be engaged in their education when presented with visually appealing and interactive materials. Utilising TrilbyTV has played a crucial role in providing students with a dynamic learning environment, by displaying eye-catching content such as posters for after school clubs, Content Catalogue resources and school initiatives, this complements traditional teaching methods and has refreshed the overall learning experience.
Getting their students involved in promoting activities and ideas that they care about has become a powerful tool for showcasing student voice. Creating content in student groups is a fantastic way to encourage students to raise awareness for things that matter to them, ultimately showcasing their creativity and digital skills. This innovative approach not only captivates students but also encourages active participation and critical thinking.
One of the ways Larbert High School involves students is with leadership academy groups, these students are given a key focus and the groups consist of students who are passionate about specific areas, functioning as school improvement groups. For example, they have “Lady Business,” a group of students highlighting periods and making sure the school is well stocked with products. The Google slides of created content are sent to Katie, then saved as a video to raise awareness as a student voice group. Katie moderates and oversees most of the content for these initiatives and all of the content is conveniently handled through a shared Google Drive, allowing for seamless collaboration and updates.
Larbert High School is also committed to adopting sustainable practices, school groups will be actively seeking out paper posters around the school, with a mission to convert these traditional posters into eye-catching digital screen displays. Implementing digital signage screens around the school will minimise paper-based communication thereby reducing resource consumption and reducing their environmental footprint. It’s all part of making the most of their digital signage screens and creating an informed school environment, further enhancing the school’s visual appeal and communication capabilities.
Keeping things fresh and creative
Every Friday, Larbert High School brings some fun into the mix with a weekly quiz. It’s a small way to keep things fresh and engaging for the students. To add a creative touch, they use Canva to tweak and edit content. When last-minute requests for event promotions are received, Katie will put something together quickly and upload it so that it can be put out instantaneously.
By strategically placing their screens in key areas, Larbert High School has shown how much of an impact sharing content can have, promoting a vibrant and innovative environment that celebrates excellence and creativity. It was great to catch up with Katie and see how Larbert High School is utilising TrilbyTV to showcase their content to create a dynamic and visually stimulating educational environment, making their learning a truly immersive experience.
