Eye-catching visuals, engaging messages and up-to-date information can transform a plain screen into a captivating communication tool. But how do you ensure that your digital signage content remains fresh, relevant and constantly flowing? That’s where RSS feeds come in. RSS feeds act as a content management tool, seamlessly integrating dynamic content onto your screens.
A few years ago we released an update to the Web Content in TrilbyTV which included the ability to add RSS feeds to your digital signage. By adding RSS feeds you can automatically pull in content from various sources, ensuring that your displays are always buzzing with the latest news and updates. This can include science and tech facts, images of the day, educational resources and more.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, itβs a way for websites and blogs to distribute their content in a standardised format. Think of it like a subscription service for news, updates and information, delivered directly to your device. Forget about manually searching the internet for content. RSS feeds do the legwork for you, delivering a constant stream of relevant information directly to your TrilbyTV content feed.
RSS feeds automate the process, keeping your digital signage fresh with up to date information. What you get is a diverse range of content, from news headlines to social media updates, keeping your audience engaged and informed. This ensures that your digital signage reflects the latest information and trends in real time.
Adding RSS feeds to your digital signage
Start by choosing your RSS feed sources. Identify websites, blogs and social media accounts that align with your target audience and key messaging. For example, NASA has a range of feeds available to inspire the next set of future Space explorers. You can use this content to create a dynamic and engaging experience that shows a range of resources. Show captivating visuals and information that will keep your audience inspired and entertained.
To add an RSS feed, just copy the URL which usually ends with either .xml, /rss or /feed and paste it in as a new Web Content item. We will do the hard work of extracting the feed information and presenting it beautifully. Customise and schedule the content, decide how often and when you want it to display on your screens. Remember to regularly review your RSS feeds and settings to ensure they align with your communication goals and audience engagement. Your players must be running TrilbyTV Player 4.3.3 or later (v5 for AppleTV) to see any RSS feeds you add.
