A few months back we travelled around Scotland to visit a few different schools who are using TrilbyTV to share and showcase their digital signage and celebrate the achievements they are having on the screens around their school.
One fantastic advocate for digital signage who we caught up with was Will Miller, a School Technician at Bertha Park High School in Perth. Will told us how TrilbyTV was introduced to their school,
“Our head teacher came across it first and asked me to find out about it, as an alternative to a system our local authority currently used. We looked into it, filled out the paperwork and we were given the go ahead. Now we’re on year three and everything’s great and we’ve not looked back.”
Digital signage made easy
Will then discussed why Bertha Park needed digital signage and the main reasons for choosing TrilbyTV,
“It’s an easier way of communicating, getting information out and sharing what’s going on around the school. We’ve got content for activities that are on, sports, study periods and study times as well. The main reasons for choosing TrilbyTV were ease of access, compared to the council options, the fact that so many devices can access it, how easy it is to set up a new device as we did earlier and the scheduling. Everything is just one click or a couple of clicks and you’re away with it. Ease of use, basically, it just comes down to that.”
“It’s a platform with the scope for celebrating the successes in the school, as well as building awareness for the young people going about the building as well, so they might see something they might not have realised. We try to get as much information from our daily bulletin on the screen as possible so that nothing is missed. They may randomly see an opportunity for an extracurricular activity.
It was great to also find out how TrilbyTV has changed their IT department’s involvement with signage and involvement across the school,
“For us, it’s streamlined a lot. We had another system in place at my previous school and TrilbyTV is a lot simpler and so straightforward to use. I have been able to give ownership to others, we’ve currently got two other members of staff that are utilising TrilbyTV. They love it and I’m hoping that’s going to grow the number of users as we’ve got members of staff who are interested in using it. We’ve also got interest from the young people in the school as well, which is great.”
Helping to grow the digital signage estate
Growing the amount of screens you have within your school can create impact and increase engagement by reinforcing cohesive messaging around the building. This can be utilised by having an unlimited screen licence, which Will is certainly planning to utilise at Bertha Park High School,
“We’ve got capacity for more screens, it’s just working out where. We are looking at utilising the Promethean boards in the classrooms as well, it’s all about evidencing and maximising the use of these screens. Seeing the content working and that satisfaction of everything just falling into place from when we first looked into using TrilbyTV, has really encouraged us to expand the amount of screens around the school.”

Book free DemoWe then spoke about favourite features and what makes TrilbyTV different from other digital signage software,
“When it comes to features I really liked the groups, grouping screens and grouping content as well, that has worked really well. Also when it comes to users, I’ve grouped some of them so that they can only see and upload content for groups that they are allowed to, which is really useful.”
TrilbyTV’s customer service
“My highlights are the ease of access and the customer service is amazing. When using the customer help desk online, they’ve been really quick, really swift with the replies and attentive as well. Checking in afterwards, again I can’t speak highly enough about the team at TrilbyTV.”
“It’s been excellent and I’ve really enjoyed having TrilbyTV. The system has allowed it to be accessed by our students and by staff as well as other staff in the building. It’s hard not to look at a screen and it’s popping up all this information and it sticks. The screen in reception has got other bits of information, it’s got our senior leadership team’s information so any visitors can have a look. It’s improved our whole school communication for sure.”
“I’ve recommended TrilbyTV to Perth Grammar and every other school I’ve spoken to over the last few years. I think it’s an opportunity for the local authority, not just for whole school communication but to improve whole counsel and school building communication as well.”
It was great to catch up with Will and to see the impact TrilbyTV has had at Bertha Park so far. If you’re interested in seeing how TrilbyTV can make a difference to your school digital signage, sign up for a free demo or try it out with a 30 day trial!
