We’re excited to share our new Islamic Pioneers content, available now on TrilbyTV. Following the success of our Black Pioneers and LGBTQ+ Pioneers collections, we feel that it’s important to continue to celebrate diverse talent from around the world. In this series, you’ll find people from a wide range of countries and time periods, all of whom have made a significant impact in their field.
To celebrate their work, our Islamic Pioneers content is available to display on the digital signage around your school or trust. Their stories enrich learning environments with opportunities for historical and cultural awareness, as well as highlighting the importance of diversity in education and beyond.
Recognising achievements of Islamic Pioneers
The Islamic Pioneers in this collection have done important work in many different fields, from politics, to mathematics, music, science, medicine, exploration, activism and much more.
Many of the people featured in the collection have contributed to advancements in our understanding of the world, many of which are still used in education today. For example, Al-Khwarizmi is known as the father of algebra because of his work that introduced the concept of algorithms and the decimal number system to the Western world. In fact, the word ‘algorithm’ is derived from his name.
Jabir ibn Hayyan was another important figure in the world of maths and science. He is particularly well known for his work in chemistry, and his systematic approach to experimentation laid the foundation for modern chemistry.
By celebrating these pioneers on your digital signage, students can develop an appreciation for the achievements of people throughout history and all over the world, maybe even inspiring them to continue their own research. What’s more, students with an Islamic background are able to celebrate their own cultural history, while sharing it with their peers.
